You keep the 4GB SD Card. Consider buying extra SD memory cards. We get about 400 photos in .jpg format on a 4GB card. Believe it or not, it's easy to shoot that many in one day. Even if you plan on downloading your photos from the card daily, you could fill up your memory card before the day is over. For the small price of additional memory cards, you won't have to worry about it!
